A unique Midlands market of stalls and workshops featuring cross-cultural crafters makers and artisans
“Why organising a market crossover crafters makers and artisans from different cultures?
Markets play a vital role in connecting communities. They function as social spaces where goods are sold; where information, ideas and dialogues are exchanged among traders and with shoppers; and where diverse groups and communities are included and connect. Markets in England appeared as early as the Roman times and became common from the 11th century onwards. Markets in Hong Kong, on the other hand, originated from ancient street markets and later evolved into street stalls. Wan Chai Market and Graham Street Market, the two street markets well known to HongKongers, have stood in the city for close to and over a century respectively. Markets around the world play a similar role in building and connecting communities.
Intrigued by the social interactions and inclusions taking place at markets, SoSoul Place hopes to organise its own markets to provide social spaces where locals and individuals and communities from other cultures including Hong Kong can connect, explore crafts and goods together and learn about the history, culture and identity of one another

“Who is SoSoul Place?”
SoSoul Place is an event organiser founded and run by a Hongkonger now calling the UK her new home. Based in Midlands, we strive to promote cultural exchange and organise events with purpose – provide spaces/occasions (PLACE) for individuals and communities (SOUL) to connect and interact (SOcial connections), so that the differences and similarities among cultures, communities and individuals can be understood and bridged. In addition, we are in the course of developing a bilingual website and platform on cultural topics. This SoSoul market x Birmingham market will be our second event, following our very joyful summer market with turnouts far exceeding expectations back in August. Follow us and stay tuned
