Our Story

SoSoul Place is founded by us, two Hongkongers born and growing up in Hong Kong and now calling Midlands as our new home.

Winnie has years of experience in organising business events in Hong Kong, whilst Vanessa is experienced in organising / participating in local and overseas community and cultural events. We both love connecting with people, particularly people of different cultures / nationalities / backgrounds, and are fascinated by the exchange of thoughts and ideas which in turn brings insight about ourselves and our culture and identity.

Walking through the pandemic and various changes, we cherish direct, genuine and natural dialogues and communications with others.  Since having the thought of establishing SoSoul Place and up until putting it into action, we have partnered with a friend in Hong Kong to create a free platform on mental health ( FB: SoSoul Place HK  / IG: sosoul_place_hk ). From March to May 2022, we held six online sharing sessions on mental health for HongKongers who were deeply affected by the pandemic. The fruitful experience has affirmed our determination to follow our passion.  That is how SoSoul Place is launched in England.

So here we are, following our passion to walk on this new path in UK: to organise events with purpose – provide spaces/occasions (PLACE) for individuals and communities (SOUL) to connect (SOcial connections). We strive to organise cultural events, where people can meet and get to know one another, and to bring insights on cultures and identities with our bilingual website, gradually uncovering and exploring differences and similarities across cultures and building bonding within and with other communities.

In SoSoul Place’s logo, the two ‘Os’ comprise different colours and patterns, representing the differences in people and in communities. Despite those differences that may set them apart, if individuals and communities are provided with appropriate and timely spaces/occasions where they can meet and chat, where they can get to understand about the known differences and explore the unknown common ground between them, gradually bonding within and with other communities can develop, like the two ‘Os’ in our logo.

This is our dream: through cultural activities, make the world more accepting of differences and diversities in individuals and communities; let the two ‘Os’ grow and flow.

We look forward to meeting you at SoSoul Place’s coming events in Midlands. Let’s meet, greet and chat.
